Ambulance outfit
During November and December 2024, we worked with Derek from Metro Ambulance to build a better ambulance, one that was user friendly, and easy to clean.
The existing interior was removed and a new fiberglass roof lining was installed to create a hygienic space, we designed a cheaper, lighter and quicker way of making the cabinets using folded Aluminium and powder coating it.
An extractor fan and a fold down ceiling TV monitor was fitted for the patients.
We designed alloy boxes for the blinds on the side windows so that the roller blinds would be hidden and they would hang at an angle in line with the tapered side windows.
The floor was constructed using marine plywood with upstands under the cabinets coated, the plywood was coated with layers of thick epoxy paint. All the edges were sealed so the floor could be washed out at the end of the day.
The floor was given a rough texture to prevent users and patients from slipping and falling.
At the rear Johan designed a powder coated alloy bin with one compartment for general waste and one for clinical hazardous waste, this was made in such a way that the bin could easily be removed to clean behind it if there was a leakage
The electronics cabinet and linen cabinets were constructed traditionally from laminated light weight plywood.
The roll in roll out stretcher bed tracks were mounted in the floor and two forward facing rear seats were bolted through the chassis.
